Outgoing vice chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, has advocated a knowledge-based economy, describing it as the key to a prosperous economy.

The VC, shortly after the ‘Foundation Fellowship, UNN Business School’ was conferred on him in Enugu, stated that “only when Nigeria begins to produce what other people will buy” that it would cease to be a consumer nation.He stated that his administration had tried to position UNN where it could grow on its own.

“The seed of success has been sown by encouraging research. On Tuesday, I laid foundation for INNOSO/LION Tractor Programme, for tractors to be produced in UNN. I also laid foundation for Science Park, the first university-imbedded park in Sub-saharan Africa.”
