Nigeria’s debt profile sustainable, AGF maintains

Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris
Despite the 12.25 per cent increase from 2017, the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Idris Ahmed, has maintained that Nigeria’s current debt profile was “efficiently sustainable.”

Even as the nation spends 70 per cent of its revenue on debt servicing, the AGF insisted that the strategic measures initiated by the Federal Government would ensure efficient management of the fiscal responsibility.

The country’s debt is N24.4 trillion, up from the 2017 figure of N21.725 trillion.

Ahmed, who spoke during a homage to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in Kano, allayed fears of Nigerians on the development.
