Proprietress of Al-Haleem International Schools, Surulere, Lagos, Rakia Tukur has said that nothing is wrong with the present Nigerian school syllabus.

Tukur stated this during a courtesy visit to The Guardian, Rutam House corporate head office alongside students of the school to learn about different stages and processes involved in newspaper production, from news gathering to printing and circulation.

She said, “We are here on educational tour so that our students can know about the media work while those interested in becoming journalists would see what it entails and things involved. I’m very impressed by what I saw. I’m happy I came with them. I’ve never been to any newspaper publication firm before so, I decided be part of this visit and see what is being done to get more knowledge. We also believe The Guardian is the best.

On the Nigerian school syllabus, Tukur said, “The syllabus is quite okay since it was done by seasoned educationists that really know what is right for the primary and secondary school levels. I believe we can consider adding a few things to the syllabus to meet global standard. I believe it was a right decision to re-introduce History to the school syllabus years after it was stopped; we enjoyed history while we were in school and we are happy to have it back.”
