NILEPET, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Hold Talks in Abu Dhabi, Focus on Capacity Building and Partnership in South Sudan
South Sudan’s national oil company NILEPET and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) met in Abu Dhabi today, with capacity building and partnership top of the agenda. NILEPET is in the UAE meeting with investors in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and attending the Invest in African Energy reception organized by the African Energy Chamber this evening.
The NILEPET delegation was led by Managing Director Bernard Makeny, who spoke with ADNOC Vice President Strategy and Business (Upstream department) Jasper Peijs.
During the meeting, ADNOC presented its strategic vision for sustainable, reliable energy production and its commitment to an inclusive energy transition. Makeny outlined NILEPET’s key role in South Sudan’s exploration and production segment, and articulated its vision to grow capacity and to partner with the world’s top oil and gas producers to derive the maximum benefit from South Sudan’s petroleum resources.
ADNOC manages the world’s sixth largest reserves of oil and its seventh largest reserves of gas, targeting 5 million barrels of oil production capacity per day by 2027. NILEPET as South Sudan’s national oil company holds the state’s interests in all exploration and production assets and has eight joint ventures with international partners designed to bring world-class technologies and energy infrastructure to the country.
South Sudan is East Africa’s sole major oil producer and NILEPET stands at the forefront of the nation’s effort to build capacity among its people and companies. The company is undergoing a reform process to increase productivity, professionalism and transparency, to follow in the footsteps of international role models such as ADNOC and other major oil companies.
Makeny and the NILEPET delegation, including the Ambassador of South Sudan to the UAE Garang Garang Diing; Choul Laam, NILEPET Board Member; and Galla David, Vice President at the Safinat joint venture, emphasized the country’s high potential and aspirations and invited Peijs and the ADNOC leadership to participate in the South Sudan Oil & Power 2023 conference (https://apo-opa.info/40koRl7), to be held in Juba on 14-16 June 2023, to continue the productive discussions.
