The Tanzanian Ambassador to Israel, Job Masima , his spouse, Yohana Joan Masima , and the Embassy staff held a special and colorful reception on Tuesday at the Amphorae Winery in Kerem Maharal. Before the reception, a golf tournament, organized by the Tanzanian Embassy, ​​was held at the Caesarea Golf Club. Ambassador Masima, who has been playing golf for about 20 years, competed in the tournament.

The colorful reception was attended by the Minister for Regional Cooperation, Issawi Freij , Ambassadors of Zambia, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia and more; Tanzania's Honorary Consul to Israel, Chirich Nuriel Kasbian , Israel's Ambassador to Tanzania, Michael Lotem ; Diplomats, businessmen, golfers, media people and tourism wholesalers. Chef Eyal Lavie won over the culinary craft.

Ambassador Masima, who will soon end his tenure in Israel after 5 years, said at the exciting event that his arrival in Israel as Tanzania's first resident Ambassador of the country is the highlight of his tenure. 

“I thank you for the opportunity to serve as Tanzania's first Ambassador to Israel,” the Ambassador said at the ceremony. The Minister of Regional Cooperation, Freij spoke about the special ties between the countries and the importance of continuing to strengthen and establish them. He expressed hope that tourism would return as soon as possible and promised during his tenure to further establish ties and bring students from Tanzania to Israel. The Minister thanked Ambassador Masima for his many activities to cultivate ties between Tanzania and Israel.

Tanzania was founded as a result of a union between Tanganyika (the Mainland) and the island of Zanzibar. As mentioned, Tanganyika gained Independence on December 9, 1961 and on April 26, 1964 the union was formed that led to the establishment of the United Republic of Tanzania.

More than 4 million wildlife from 430 different species are found in Tanzania, the highest concentration of animals per square kilometer in the world. 

These are 430 different species of animals that spread over tens of thousands of square kilometers of spectacular nature and wonderful reserves. Tanzania is the only country in the world whose quarter is defined as a nature reserve. 

The Serengeti Reserve in northern Tanzania is part of a vast African savannah. The name Serengeti means “the endless plains”. In the most famous reserve in the world – which contains in its territory the largest and richest variety of animals that are all concentrated in one area. Thousands of predators of various species live there. 

At the beginning of the dry season the reserve can be observed in a phenomenon known as the “Great Migration” when over two million animals migrate from the Serengeti Reserve in Tanzania to the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. This is the largest terrestrial migration of animals in the world. In the reserve you can see a huge variety of animals: lions, tigers, hyenas, elephants, wildebeest, rhinos, hippos, zebras, antelopes,

Tanzania is home to 162 tribes, each with a unique culture. The two official languages ​​are Swahili and English. 

In Tanzania, however, no less than 120 languages ​​are spoken. The territory of Tanzania (945,087 square kilometers) is home to some of the largest lakes in the world, including Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika and Lake Niasa (Malawi). Tanzania is considered the best place in the world to do a safari. It has a special culture, rich natural treasures, beautiful and fascinating nature reserves and the island of Zanzibar. 

The Masai, living mainly in northern Tanzania and Kenya, are one of the ancient tribes in East Africa. Despite the changes that have taken place in Africa, the Masai have been able to largely maintain their traditional way of life, thanks in part to the Tanzanian government's permission to live in the Serengeti Reserve. The Masai stand out in the field thanks to their special wear, a kind of red dress. The women of the tribe wear colorful beaded strings.

In the north of Tanzania is Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in the African continent that rises to a height of 5,895 meters. Its location, near the equator, is responsible for the great variety of landscapes, with tropical rainforests on its slopes and evergreen glaciers at the top. 

Ngorongoro Crater is the largest volcanic crater in the world. It is 19 km in diameter and 600 meters deep. Within this vast area live about 25,000 animals, including zebras, gnus, elephants, deers and more. 

Lake Tanganyika is the second deepest lake in the world. This is a freshwater lake, where you can find rare fish of various kinds. Its maximum depth reaches 1,470 meters.

On the enchanting island of Zanzibar there are white sands, turquoise sea in all its shades, coconut trees and a spectacular underwater world. The island is called the “Spice Island”, due to the high concentration of herbs growing on it. This is the only place in the world where you can see the population of red Columbus monkeys. The capital of Zanzibar is Zanzibar City and its ancient district is called Stone Town, an area declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

There are over 20 types of bananas in Tanzania, including red bananas. The local capital is called Klimanjaro.

In 2019, about 40,000 tourists from Israel visited Tanzania, compared to only about 20,000 in 2017, when Ambassador Masima took office.
