AABTEAEN re-elects Onajide as president

The Managing Director of R.T. Briscoe Nigeria, Seyi Onajide, has been re-elected president of the Association of Automobile, Boatyards, Transport Equipment and Allied Employers of Nigeria

The Managing Director of R.T. Briscoe Nigeria, Seyi Onajide, has been re-elected president of the Association of Automobile, Boatyards, Transport Equipment and Allied Employers of Nigeria (AABTEAEN) for the seventh time.
 
Onajide was, at the 40th yearly general meeting held in Lagos, returned unopposed as he got another one year mandate to steer the ship of the association. 

 
Also re-elected as the vice president is the Deputy Managing Director of Compagnie Française de l’Afrique Occidentale Motors Nigeria (CFAO Group), Kunle Jaiyesimi.
 
Honda Manufacturing (Nigeria) Limited representative, Mrs. Morenike Ogunowo is the new treasurer, replacing Dr. Andrew Dzarma, who retired from the Mandilas Group as Group Head Human Capital. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Onajide thanked members for another opportunity to run the association for a fresh one year. He solicited members’ cooperation for him to move the body forward despite the challenges the country is facing.
 
Reviewing the economy of the 2019, he said the country continued to show signs of recovery from 2016.
 
“The Nigerian economy grew by 1.9 per cent quickening from 0.8 per cent in 2017. It represents the fastest expansion since 2015. The non-sector rose by 2.7 per cent higher than a 2.3 per cent growth in the third quarter.
 
“The association recorded modest progress in the year under review while consolidating on her achievements of previous years. During the year under review, the association’s scheduled human capital development initiatives were executed successfully in line with the approved calendar for the year.
 
“The association’s quarterly chief executive officers and executive committee meeting were held as scheduled in the course of the year. Members companies continued to show commitment by attending meetings regularly and paying their dues promptly,” he stated.
