…unveil app to assist job seekers

Worried by the dearth of employability skills in the country, a leading financial institution, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a human resources firm JobRed have joined forces to train Nigerian graduates on skills that will prepare them for the labour market.

Addressing journalists in Lagos, Project Director of JobRed, AjoAfolabi-Balogun said the partnership would allow the organisations to help deliver support on CV writing, interview techniques and other essential skills.

“We all have a role to play in society and each must do our part to support our students and make them more employable; but more so to develop the workforce we want to see in Nigeria”, Afolabi-Balogun.

Speaking after a three a day summits held in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos, Afolabi-Balogun said the organisation has designed an application, which would assist prospective workforce to improve skills that are prerequisite for the job place.

“Are you JobReady? App, is a tool where students can learn about career tips, the labour market, the working world and crucial employability skills. It is a dynamic App, with trending topics and frequent topics uploads to keep our learners engaged,” she said.
