WOMEN bankers under the aegis of Association of Professional Women Bankers (APWB) have enlightened secondary school students in Lagos State on choice of career as one’s ability to attain success in life begins with the right choice.

In her welcome address, the Chairperson, APWB, Toyin Ojo, said the vision of the association is to promote good conduct among members, the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, financial institutions and corporate society.

Addressing the students, she said, “We ensure that we build the future leaders for tomorrow. We believe that by the time we leave here, your life will not be the same again”.

In his Chairman’s address, the Acting Registrar, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Seye Awojobi, said the banking sector is associated with honest people who were entrusted with the money of the citizens and urged students to be active by joining educative clubs to prepare them for a successful life after school.

While encouraging them to imbibe the attributes of good leaders, Awojobi said, “CIBN as of today is 52 years and has produced many great leaders. A leader must be trustworthy, honest, ethical and transparent.”

The Head, Marketing Communications, ACCION Microfinance Bank, Ngozi Anene, told the students that if they wanted to achieve their career aspirations, they needed to have a vision, adding that mentors, role models and friends who had good ambitions and attributes should be emulated.

“To choose a suitable career, she encouraged the students to identify their weaknesses and strengths, limitation and emotional states”, she said.
