THE Abuja Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA) in partnership with the German federal ministry for economic cooperation and development has jointly built the capacity of 53 young Nigerians whom are expected to transfer the skills to other youths.

The partnership, which comes under the German dual vocational education partnership with Nigeria, is programmed to transfer technology to Nigerians while at the same time preserving their traditional values in the education sector.

The German ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Zenner said in Abuja during the closing ceremony of the 41 days capacity building exercise, that his country and Nigeria has over time done a lot in the area of capacity building over time and the agreement to embark on the just concluded training started in 2012 with the desire to empower Nigerian youths so that they can be at par with their counterparts anywhere in the world.

He said most people may have opined that such training should have held in Lagos being the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, but said Abuja, being the seat of power of Nigeria is fast becoming a business environment.

He said it is the intention of the German government to extend the training to other states of the country in order to cover a wider ground.

He noted that despite the growth in the economy of Nigeria, the rate of unemployment is still high.

He said the capacity building is imperative to match the growing Nigeria economy with employment opportunity adding that the project is an outstanding bilateral one which shows the intensive and close German-Nigerian cooperation in the day by day work of both countries.
