The Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria (CIPN) has charged members of then institute to cultivate ethical standard and shun every form of vices that could bring the name of the professional body into disrepute.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of newly admitted members, President and Chairman of Council of CIPN, Adeyemi Atilade, said the country needs healthy leaders and followers that can walk the talk. This he said, would form a formidable structure that would retain the values and culture of the society.

On his part, the Guest Speaker at the event, Dr Olusoji George, urged Nigerian leaders to be proactively reactive to the changing needs of businesses to stimulate the economy.

George also charged leaders to seek the cultivation of the ability to lead ethically and shun corruption, employing strong character and self discipline.

He further held that Nigeria needs good leaders who can lead by examples through personal actions and interpersonal relations and the promotion of such conducts to followers through reinforcement and decision making.

George who presented a paper titled, ‘Ideal leader in 21st century, Nigeria in perspective’, said the shortage of good leadership is the bane of Nigeria’s progress.
