The awards were presented at the investiture ceremony of Ekene Ajiri-Uwuseba as the club’s new president, alongside the commissioning of a water project.
Speaking at the ceremony held in Lagos, Ajiri-Uwuseba expressed optimism about her new role while acknowledging the responsibilities ahead. She emphasized the importance of philanthropy, noting that the less privileged will always exist in society, which underscores the essence of humanitarian efforts.
“As a club, we are poised to continue on this trajectory to serve both the privileged and the vulnerable in our society,” she stated.
Ajiri-Uwuseba further highlighted that the club was established in honour of the late Ngozi Chukws. She stressed that while the government cannot address all societal challenges alone, philanthropists and citizens must step up to contribute their quota.
The awards, she noted, were given to individuals who have consistently supported the club and its projects since its inception. She also outlined key projects her tenure will focus on which include a medical outreach, cataract surgeries for at least 10 patients, and computer training programmes.
One of the award recipients, Ezeh, expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing humanitarian work as a worthy cause.
“Service is my passion, which is why I associate with organizations like this,” he said.
Ezeh also urged the newly elected leaders to remain committed, emphasizing that leadership requires sacrifice, focus, and a commitment to leaving a lasting legacy.
