The lawmaker representing Akoko-Edo Constituency II in Edo State House of Assembly, Emma Agbaje, has urged Governor Godwin Obaseki to build on the legacies of his predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, especially in the areas of development, capacity building and poverty alleviation.

Speaking on Tuesday at an award ceremony organised by Akoko-Edo Youth for Sustainable Governance (AYSG) in honour of newly appointed Chief of Staff to the governor, Taiwo Akerele, the lawmaker said: I will say that without any advice, a template has been set and getting to know Godwin Obaseki, I have every confidence that he is going to do well and he is even going to surpass the achievement of Adams Oshiomhole. I don’t think he needs to be teleguided. He has been in the system.

“He has been one of the prime movers. He has been a factor in the government so I am sure he knows the onions and he knows what exactly to do and I want to assure the people of Edo State that we are going to witness more and more development, more investments and more progress.

“The Oshiomhole’s government, all of us in Edo State can testify to, did a wonderful work not only in the area of infrastructure, but also transformed Edo State politically. It finished well perfectly. We are also very lucky that somebody who has enormous capacity just like him has taken over from him. I think we are blessed.”

The secretary to the state government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie, said with the calibre of government in place, 200,000 jobs would be surpassed in the first four years.

“The Comrade Governor has given Edo people a son, the son he gave to Edo people will do better and surpass his achievement,” he enthused.

The governor, recently after the thanksgiving service ushering in his administration, said he would within three months come up with a policy direction for the state to build on his predecessor’s achievements, adding that his government would insist on value for every money spent.
