‘Entrepreneurship can create jobs for 5m youths’

The President of the institute, Ike Obioma, at the induction and investiture of new members in Lagos, said with the support of stakeholders and government at all levels, the institute would be able to reduce unemployment.
Obioma, who was represented by the Regional Coordinator, South West, ISEN, Dr. Albert Ndeze, said the main objective of the institute was to train the youth and promote entrepreneurship in the country.
The paper presenter, Dr. Anayochi Ekeh, said ISEN can pull five million unemployed youths out of the unemployment market within 24 months, with the support of the government at all levels.
Ekeh said entrepreneurship would help to reduce poverty, kidnapping and banditry in the country. He said: “Many of us have worked for about 35 years or more, but when you retire, getting your entitlements becomes a problem, hence self-employment is the way to go.
“If you put in that 35 years into your business, you would be proud of yourself,” He urged entrepreneurs to focus on innovations and self-financing as a key to self-sustainable economic growth.
He said ISEN has positioned itself to interface with the government to create a sustainable operating environment for entrepreneurs and creators of wealth in the country.
The Registrar of ISEN, Ossai Elvis, enjoined the government to remove bureaucracy, multiple taxations and promote entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
Lagos State Chapter Steering Committee, Nwoke Uwaoma said insecurity in the country is posing threat to businesses.
“If you have N100 million investments and there is no security, it is nothing. Nigeria’s business environment is hostile and that is a major challenge. Government should urgently put adequate security measures in place to protect lives and properties,” he said.
The inductees were Dennis Osadebe Okafor, Chairman Denca Services Limited, Charles Akhigbe, Roberts Nancy Nwakaego, Adamu Mas’ud Kazaure, Happy Adeze, Joy Anwuriejara, Gift Akudo Ekeh, Florence Amadi, Anayochi Ignitus Ekeh, Owahbanun Dick Okojie, Iroriteraye Joy Ewanhiwimem, and Emmanuel Chikadibia Patricia, among others.
