Experts task government on solar energy to boost electricity

Stakeholders have tasked government and relevant authorities to explore solar energy to boost electricity generation in the country.

They made the call at a workshop organised in Lagos by Rubitec Nigeria Limited, in partnership with Jinko Solar.

The Chief Executive Officer of Rubitec, Mr. Bolade Soremekun, urged Nigeria to join the league of countries like Germany and France to use solar energy to boost a steady supply of electricity.

He said the use of solar energy is more economical in nation building, adding that it is also relevant in improving the people’s quality of life.

The workshop, which had as its theme”“Jinko/ Rubtec product reliability and competitive edge solar training,” was aimed at bringing renewable energy application to the rural and urban areas in Nigeria and Africa.

Solar subscribers, dealers and members of the public attended the workshop, which apart from training the youths to use solar energy to light up the society, would also eradicate the scourge of unemployment and restiveness.

The organisers promised to use regular energy training to empower the youths to promote self-reliance and wealth-creation.
According to them, the training was also part of its corporate social responsibility, targeted at creating a new-breed of entrepreneurs.

The Sales Manager Central Africa of Jinko Solar, Mr. Victor Koyier, said the firm is one of the world’s leading organisations, with a range of solar products and services.

According to him, Jinko has over 15,000 subsidiaries/offices, across 80 countries globally, and is focused on making and delivering superior and genuine solar products that could pass the test of time.

He said the firm trained 80 clients in Nigeria and interacted with some of the global leaders in Africa, which has representation in 10 African countries.

Some of Jinko’s products featured at the workshop include Solar Eagle 72, 320-340watt, Poly Crystalline module and 5-busbar solar cell high power input.

He said the products have PID-resistant, low-high performance, severe weather resilience durability against extreme environmental conditions and temperature co-efficient.

Koyier explained that Nigeria has a huge solar market, because of the huge population and unstable electricity challenges, coupled with the in-flock of substandard solar products in the market.

Also, Jinko Solar Business Development Manager (East West Africa), Mr. Hadyr Adebayo, urged members to continue to implement the global strategy for the benefit of the people.
