Experts want youths to acquire skills, have positive mindsets

Life coaches, entrepreneurs and human capital development experts have urged Nigerian youths to acquire relevant skills, have positive mindset and focus on solving the nation’s problems to move to the greater heights.
 
The entrepreneurs and human capital experts include the founder of UMeRA Business School, Olamide Alao; Tope Mark-Odigie, Alfred Elegbe, Yemisi Adepoju, among others.
 
They made the call during a free skill acquisition programme for about 400 youths organised by UMeRA Business School.
 
The training is online and on-site but its physical version held at Golden Tulip Hotel, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
 
At the physical meeting, founder of UMeRA Business School, explained that the programme tagged “UMeRA boost” is a holistic programme meant to add value to the beneficiaries.
 
While she also noted that the programme was also meant to encourage youths to become more important aspect of society through the creation of businesses that solve problems and create solutions.
 
Alao added that the beneficiaries would be trained in five different programmes, including public speaking, project management, digital marketing, alternative medicine, coding and web design .
 
She charged the youths to use their minds, saying, “It is about the power of the mind. We are in the era of social media where you can go forth and show yourself, you see a lot of comedians that are coming up on social media to show their skills, you see people who are into designs, to show their skills.”
 
Also, Mark-Odigie stated that there are opportunities for legitimate success for youths in Nigeria if given the needed training, adding that   Nigerians are very resourceful if given the opportunity.

She, however advised Nigerian youths not to give up on themselves, to keep believing in themselves but keep learning how to be better.
 
Mark-Odigie, said: “For Nigeria to do well, Nigerian youths should stop thinking that someone else is going to solve the problem for them”.
 
On her part, Adepoju charged the youths to align their body, soul and spirit. She said: “The youths need to acquire capacity building. That’s why I am more into the mind, body, soul, because what the body is learning, the mind has to go with it. There has to be an alignment among the three.”
