FCMB workers empower widows, women
First City Monument Bank (FCMB), through its women workers, has donated cash and various items to underprivileged widows in Lagos, in line with its commitment to impact lives in the communities where it operates.
The gesture, according to the workers was partly in celebration of International Women’s Day and to assist the widows to begin small-scale retail businesses in their respective communities, with the overall aim of enhancing the standard of living of the beneficiaries.
The items donated included cash, refrigerators, foodstuffs, beverages, soft drinks, writing materials, confectioneries, toiletries, among others.
FCMB’s Divisional Head, Human Resources and Strategy, Felicia Obozuwa, said the move is also in line with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which focuses on economic empowerment and environmental sustainability.
“Beyond celebrating the Women’s Day, we believe that as a corporate organisation made up of mothers, wives and sisters, it is necessary to extend the hand of fellowship and love to the needy through charity programmes in times like this.
“FCMB Women decided to come to the aid of the widows following the discovery of the difficulties they were facing.
