To broaden the knowledge of Mechanical Engineers into the realm of modern technology, the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) has partnered with an engineering solution and training service, Generative CAD Service limited to train engineers.

The two-year partnership aims to empower recent graduates with practical skills essential for success in the mechanical engineering industry by offering hands-on experience, exposure to real-world challenges, and opportunities for professional development, as it seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands.

The partnership also focuses on providing training in essential core skills such as design, development, optimisation, and digital manufacturing as participants will have access to cutting-edge technologies and expertise, including Dassault Systèmes (SolidWorks), Autodesk and Flashforge technologies, to enhance their learning experience.

According to the chairman, board of NIMechE training, Seun Faluyi, technology is always trying to keep up on how to solve problems.

“A lot of technology is going into artificial intelligence and engineers are trying to stay abreast with what it is all about. So, we stay current with what the trends are and particularly how they relate to the different problems and we try to use them,” he stated.

Faluyi added that the essence of the collaboration is to expand the skill base, not just the academic knowledge of engineers in Nigeria but to make them truly functional in their field. He disclosed that there will be cost absorption to enable mechanical engineers and members of NIMechE to have access to the training.

A member of the Lagos State chapter of NIMechE, Bayo Erinle added that technology changes rapidly and mechanical engineers need to be kept abreast of this technology change.

“Engineers are to solve the problem of the society and for an engineer to do that effectively, he has to continuously update his knowledge about engineering technology and designs. So, this partnership is very important that our engineers at different levels can undergo this training so that we can be able to solve our problems in Nigeria,” Erinle stated.

National Chairman NIMechE, Alhassan Mohammed, who was represented by the National Vice Chairman of NIMechE, Uche Obiajulu said: “We are excited to join forces with Generative CAD Services Limited to advance the field of mechanical engineering in Nigeria. This partnership underscores our commitment to equip engineers with the tools and knowledge needed to drive innovation and economic growth.”

CEO of Generative CAD Services Limited, Chukwubuikem Amaefule said the firm’s goal is to prepare the next generation of mechanical engineers to excel in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
