Firms partner to train young women on digital literacy

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), She Code Africa, has trained over 200 women in digital literacy.

The training, which was organised by She Code Africa and sponsored by HP, was held in Ibadan.Programme Associate, She Code Africa, Maryann Okoye, said the training focuses on the use of computers by beginners, operation of smartphones, internet skills, online safety, and practical technology applications for school, work, and business.

Okoye said the training, whose age ranges between 16 and 35 years, from under-served communities are better equipped in the technological world.

Two of the participants, Olaojo Titilola and Adeleke Folasade, while thanking She Code Africa for the initiative, described the digital literacy programme as educating and informing. The NGO also partnered with Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, as well as Women SafeHouse Sustenance Initiative, on the two-week digital literacy programme.
