In a bold move to tackle the alarming youth unemployment crisis in Nigeria, a foundation, Eastern Dove Resources, has launched Shoot Like A Pro Africa (SLAP Africa) to provide free cinematography and photography training to African youths.

The foundation, which aims to empower 50,000 young Africans with high-demand creative skills by 2030, has kick-started an intensive six-week boot camp programme scheduled to take place on July 11th, 2025, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.
According to the United Nations, Africa’s youth unemployment rate stands at over 30 per cent, with millions of young people lacking opportunities to gain practical, income-generating skills.
The organization expressed optimism that SLAP Africa will bridge this gap by providing free training, mentorship, and start-up support to aspiring photographers and filmmakers.
“Our goal is to equip African youths with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the creative industry, thereby reducing unemployment and promoting economic growth,” said Jude Anyanwu, Founder of SLAP Africa Initiative.
With over 230 young Africans already trained and successfully working in the industry, the SLAP Africa Foundation is poised to make a significant impact in the lives of many more young people.
He, however, called on corporate sponsors, NGOs, and philanthropists to support the cause through funding, equipment donations, and mentorship opportunities.
