Growth and Employment in States (GEMS3) has engaged about 370 persons to carry out the on-going Systematic Land Title Registration (SLTR) exercise in Kano.

SLTR is a European Union funded project through which GEMS3 is providing technical support to Kano state government to carry out the SLTR process in selected local government areas in the state.

Speaking at an awareness forum in Kano, the SLTR coordinator, Maikudi Haruna explained that the initiative would boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Kano state.

Using the medium to urge the landed property owners in Kano to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by SLTR, he assured that the initiative would also attract investors to explore the business opportunities in the state.

He justified the idea behind the SLTR which entails the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy at the cost of N5,000 saying it would save the citizenry in Kano from going through the cumbersome process of collecting the certificates of Occupancy for their landed properties.

He explained that SLTR was initiated to simplify multiple processes being faced by thousands of property owners before securing the traditional certificate of occupancy.
