In a bid to achieve inclusivity and diversity in the workplace, Guinness Nigeria Plc is empowering 200,000 women across the country by collaborating with relevant stakeholders and the government to achieve its purpose.

The Managing Director/CEO, Guinness Nigeria Plc, Baker Magunda, while speaking with The Guardian in Lagos recently, noted that the firm is committed to creating the most inclusive and diverse culture in Nigeria but in order to do this, policies are needed to address issues that negatively affect women.

He said their goal is to remove inhibitions that hinder women from excelling in the workplace and the firm is on the journey to doing that.

“By 2030, we want our workforce here to be 50-50, but we must start at the top. Our board and leadership team are almost at this point and we intend to do more in the next few years. Around Nigeria, you realise that most small businesses are owned and run by women whether in markets, bars, or as frontline health workers but they do not have defined economic opportunities like their male counterparts.

“By 2025, we’ll enable 200,000 women in Nigeria to have access to business opportunities through multiple interventions of training, giving them real skills in creating and running businesses that will help them reach the zenith and grow significantly.”

Reiterating their commitment to creating the most inclusive and diverse culture in the country, he revealed that they are at the forefront of advocating policy changes that affect women.

“Last year, we had an all-female graduate cohort programme; all brilliant, first class minds and through them, you’ll hear of the catalytic effect we can achieve when we open the door to more women.
