The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) has said that the partnership with private universities to incorporate the institute’s qualifying examinations into its curriculum, has helped in enhancing their employability and capacity to deliver on the job.

The institute said its inclusiveness among members has also sharpened young practitioners to mentorship and internship programmes that would help build their capacity and become more valuable in their respective areas of practice.

Chairman, Corporate Governance and Capacity Building committee, Dr. Adeyinka Hassan, said this during a media briefing ahead of the institute’s virtual roundtable on corporate governance, slated for July 28, with the theme, ‘The Corporate Governance Imperatives for Contemporary Financial Technology in Nigeria.’

He said the theme was apt as it offers organisations in the fintech space, the buffer in terms of guidance and support on how they put in place proper structure of governance.

Noting that a lot of resources are being committed by the Institute at ensuring inclusiveness at all levels among members, he said: “We not only qualify them for induction purposes, we continue to organise mandatory continuous education programme (MCPE) to enhance their values and contribution to the corporate polity. All of these are part of our capacity building initiatives for our members and other stakeholders.

“Corporate governance capacity development is about helping our members and non-members maximise their potential in terms of available resources, skills and competencies.

“Part of our collaborative effort has yielded the desired results and more programmes are being planned in this regard for the betterment of the members and country. It is part of our initiatives to ensure that we are working with all.”

Speakers for the event include the Chairman of Access Bank, Dr. Ajoritsedere Awosika and Managing Director, Inlaks Limited, Bukar Kyari, among others.
