As part of efforts to build a new frontier and drive a culture of excellence in the marketing and communications industry, the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) said it is currently lobbying for the amendment of Act 25 of 2003.

President and Chairman of Council, NIMN, Idorenyen Enang, at a press briefing recently, said the bill has gone through a first reading at the senate.

Noting the importance of maintaining a regulatory role and ensuring the sustainability of the industry, he restated the institute’s commitment to serve as thought leaders and create advocacy channels that would champion the interests of members and the industry.

To further broaden its base, Enang said the institute has formed strategic partnerships and affiliations with organisations such as ARCON, CIM UK, Harley Reed, Sports Business Institute and Lagos Business School, to tap into a wealth of expertise and resources, as well as further enrich the experiences of members.

He said that building a strong pipeline of students and graduate membership from higher institutions was a crucial strategy for growth.

To achieve this, Enang said, “We believe in the power of education and the potential of young professionals, hence, we are working closely with lecturers as institutional champions, as well as heads of departments and deans, to encourage their students to join the marketing community.”

He said that focusing on growth areas of corporations, individuals and institutions was crucial to driving excellence as well as maintaining a regulatory role in the industry and membership growth.
