THE Institute of Certified Sales Professionals (ICSP) has empanelled a body, Nigerian Sales Excellence (NISE) Awards Committee to work out the modalities for its dinner and awards nite holding December 5 this year.

Inaugurating the panel chaired by celebrated media personality, Dr. Dele Sobowale recently in Lagos, the institute’s protem President, Arthur Ozoigbe, charged the committee to be objective, conscientious and transparent in the drawing up of its selection criteria.

Other members of the committee include Dr. Ade Yusuf, Ray Esebiri, Simeon Ebulu and Mfon Joseph while the institute’s Registrar,  Bukky Ohuka Fabelurin is Secretary.

Ozoigbe, who said that the awards were to recognize and promote excellence in the field, disclosed that his organization was holding its maiden breakfast meeting next month, just as he revealed intention to engage the media quarterly on issues in the polity.

He added that from next year, the institute would begin analysis of national budgets and advise professionals accordingly.

Ozoigbe, while noting that no single higher institution in the country offers sales as a course, hinted that a Diploma programme in the field would commence before the end of this year.

The ICSP boss who had decried the relegation of the profession by virtually all sectors of the economy, submitted that sales people constitute part of the top three if not the biggest professional group in the land.

He frowned at a situation where every dick and harry is being deployed by organizations in selling without requisite training and skills, fingering the banking sectors as core culprit which allegedly engages all manner of persons as marketers, relationship officers and managers with target-giving mandates.

Ozoigbe emphasized that ‘‘for you to be outstanding in any profession, you need a selling skill.”

In his acceptance speech, Sobowale assured that the committee would hit the grounnd running and unveil the selection criteria in good time, assuring fairness, professionalism and integrity in the entire process.
