ISKCON West Africa declares August 25th for annual festival
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) West Africa in partnership with Indian Diaspora has announced the annual celebration of Iskcon Nigeria Jagannatha Ratha-Yatra Festival slated for 25th August 2018 in Lagos.
According to the organisers, the venue of the festival, No. 2 Football Pitch, Ikeja Police College, Lagos would be transformed into a cynosure of timeless artistry, science, and culture.
Originally from the holy city of Puri, India, and held for thousands of years, the festival is celebrated worldwide with the Ratha-Yatra (Chariot) festival as its central spectacle.
According to the organisers, the festival which is a grand culmination of a series of celebrations spread over the summer and the monsoon month is the most splendid of them all.
According to them, this year festival with the theme “Celebrating Cow and Vedic Culture as a panacea for global peace, (White Revolution), celebrates humanity’s universal, timeless culture of devotion, focused upon the divine, leading to the ultimate harmony of human beings.
The festival is expected to feature a procession display of various Indian costumes, dressing and dance groups representing different states and concept in India.
The organisers also promised the festival would host international renowned traditional and contemporary musicians, dancers and dramatic artists, lecturers and other scholars from Nigeria and India.
Other programmes to be on display include the science of reincarnation, cow protection and a free, sumptuous vegetarian feast.
Participants at the event would be gifted lift changing transcendental art and best selling books on Yoga and Meditation.
