National Chairman and former Presidential Candidate of the National Action Council (NAC), Dr. Olapade Agoro, has called for the ban of those convicted of looting the country from holding public office at least for 10 years.

He argued that such an action would assist in discouraging and tackling corruption and guarantee a corrupt free society.

Describing the anti-corruption crusade of President Buhari as timely and in order, Agoro who spoke in Ibadan on the state of the nation expressed hope of a positive change for the country.

The former presidential candidate also lamented the failure of some states in the country to pay salaries of their workers saying this portend great dangers for the nation’s growing democracy.

He warned that failure to pay the workers may lead to anarchy in the land if not urgently addressed.

“The truth must be clearly pointed out that the workers denied their rights to wages for months, the children denied their rights to education, the citizens being exposed to lives of horror and hardship, while our leaders live in opulence and flamboyance are only being prepared for political anarchy and upheaval the end of which no one can tell. With some state governments denying workers their rights to salary payment as at when due, allowing this to run into months; seeing governance as child play allowing children to stay away from schools with denial of duly and properly getting educated and kept busy; Playing hopeless and reckless political game with education policy of our children, the end result may be anarchy,” he explained.
