The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has said that the challenges of unemployment, insecurity and infrastructure deficits facing the country will soon become a thing of the past.

Air Commodore Sunday Makinde, who led 13 participants for the Course 26 of the Nigerian Defence College (NDC), Abuja to Ondo State on a Geo-Strategic Study Tour, said this during a courtesy visit to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the Government House, Akure.

Makinde disclosed that the thrust of the tour was with a particular emphasis on Youth Empowerment and National Development: Issues and Prospects, saying the youths are key to the growth of any country.

He noted that the NDC was the highest military training college in the country with the mandate of training strategic officers from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigeria Police and senior civil servants from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Makinde expressed delight at the vision of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) on its entrepreneurial programme for the students.

He assured that coupled with other special interventions, the critical unemployment, insecurity and infrastructure deficit challenges facing the country would soon ease off and would soon bring about huge growth in the country.

He also lauded the state government for its five cardinal programmes, which he said, would accelerate development by combining a strategic governance approach with an integrated measurement and evaluation module to aggregate government’s performance.

Other NDC participants included four Army officers, two Naval officers, two Air Force officers, one Police, one from the Foreign Affairs ministry, one military Officer from Mali and one from Malawi.

Responding, Akeredolu said the state would continue to explore its rich mineral resources, vegetation and tourism, among other sectors for geometric development.

He assured that the state has several natural resources, which the participants could understudy to enrich their knowledge.

Akeredolu pointed out that NDC’s contributions at securing and building the Nigerian nation were worthy of commendation.
