A child’s turning point in My Stubbornness Must End Today

To bring sanity and fewer headaches to parents in the society, youths have been urged to be more responsible and maintain good moral conduct and a healthy lifestyle. Author of My Stubbornness Must End Today (B’World Communications Nigeria, Lagos), Mr. Okochi Benjamin, made the call at the launch of his book recently. It attracted school children and stakeholders in child development in Lagos. The author, also known as O’Ben, said his book is designed to assist youths and adolescents to be responsible future leaders.

He charged parents and guardians to ensure that they promote morals and the well-being of young people in their care, adding, “since children are precious gifts from God, they should be handled with care.” He advised parents and guardians to adopt the ‘catch them young’ approach to get young people in the right path.

In My Stubbornness Ends Today, Okochi tells the story of an adolescence boy, Chika, who hails from the Eastern part of Nigeria, and who relocates to the North. Chika would stop at nothing to be independent; his expressive and inquisitiveness lifestyle set him apart despite coming from a humble background.

It’s a fictional narrative about a young lad in today’s distracting and materialistic world, who decides to be independent at all cost. The adventure story is set in an Igbo community and the urban city of Kano. It’s an interesting adventure and treats the life style of a stubborn boy, his challenges, ignorance and naivety. Chika is also described as a smart, local champion, who exhibits some natural instincts and who would have done well in his chosen path if he had listened to his parents and family.

The beautifully illustrated book highlights the character of Chika as a stubborn and problematic child, and it takes the collective effort of his grandfather, who is a disciplinarian, to turn him around.

My Stubbornness Must End Today is an apt psychological study of young ones; it is nicely put together with a professional touch. It is recommended by childcare experts.
