Bose Ogunbiyi, also known as Abi Megaplus in the gospel music circle, is a lady, who sings with a great passion.

Abi said the love of God, and most especially, using her songs to bring hope to the hopeless, winning soul to Christ, hearing testimonies after ministering in churches, drive her to do more.

On why she went into gospel music, Abi said she had always loved singing. “I have always been in the church choir right from onset. I have two albums so far. New Praise, my first, was released in 2013, while the second, Dependable Father, came in 2015. I don’t just compose; most of my songs are created from life experiences.”

Abi, who describes her style of music as contemporary African music, said that her last album Dependable Father was to show appreciation to God for being visible in her life and family despite all they had gone through.

Her words: “Singing God’s praise is what I love to do and it gives me great joy when I see burden lifted through my ministration. Before the end of this year, by God’s grace, I hope to release new songs.”

The gospel artiste, who says she has faced a lot of challenges in life, believes strongly that when these difficulties come with prayers, things will get better.

“I’m always looking at the bright side of life,” Abi said, adding, “as for me, I see what I want to see and only take note of what is necessary. When things happen, I thank God and when it seems blocked, I still thank God; my belief is to try your best and know that no man can have anything except is given to him by God.”

On the Nigerian gospel music industry, she said the sector is doing well, but its performance cannot be compared with the secular genre.

According to her, “gospel music is doing very well and more room for improvement. Most gospel artistes that are at the top are not willing to help the upcoming ones and give directions. I believe when God places you in a position, it is not because you know how to do it better than everyone else, but His grace that has found you.”

She continued: “I have met some artistes that are very helpful, but how I wish we could all be united with no selfish motive to lift up the name of Jesus. So many artistes have been contacting me and asking for advice, sometimes, to listen to their songs and questions like where did I produce my song. I have in my own little way been of immense help and most will tell me you are different. I see it as a privileged to be of help to others. The secular music artistes work together, collaborate, and support one another, without tribal or ethnic sentiments. I think we can learn from that.”

To improve gospel music in Nigeria, Abi said: “Show more love, and if you say you are for Christ, ensure you have good relationship with Him.

Also, more collaboration, seminars, enlightenment, giving the upcoming the platform will really help.”

She holds a first degree in accounting. The financial consultant is also a certified chartered accountant.
