Sinmileoluwa Hassan is a Theatre Arts graduate of the University of Ibadan. This young talent wants to make a positive impact on his generation with his training.

“I’m quite shy and the only way I feel I could talk about what goes on in my mind is through acting,” he stated at a recent conversation. “It was tough and tiring studing Theatre Arts, with the endless rehearsals and all, but it has paid off so far. Not much recognition has come my way but I’m grateful for how far I’ve come.”

Hassan said he loves acting because it gives him the freedom to explore and exhibit another person’s character, adding, “I get my acting inspiration from God. I just had a show recently with Toyin Oshinaike at Freedom Park. My role models in the film industry are Gabriel Afolayan, Wale Ojo, Blossom Chukwujekwu and other great actors who have impacted my live positively one way or the other”.

He noted that the film industry is evolving and a lot of young people are doing positive things, and added, “Globally, the movie industry is moving at a fast pace and we can’t afford to be left behind. It can only get better, and it will”.

On his new project, he said, “I am working with Toyin Oshinaike on a stage play titled Wats Dis All About and it’s on the bill of Ibadan PlayHouse; it will be performed in Ibadan. We need more support from well-established production companies to get new guys like us engaged. As an actor, I’d love to be judged not necessarily by my looks, but by my abilities as an artist. I know it’s up to the directors and producers, still, I’d appreciate if guys like me get a shot sometimes”.
