BiyiThePlug: Generating wealth as a content creator
A content creator does not just create content out of boredom; they do so because they already have a specific audience.
As defined by several sources, a content creator is an individual who responsibly contributes his quota of information through any of the available media channels.
A typical example of a content creator is Alajede Ibrahim Ajebiyi, known popularly as BiyiThePlug.
Ajebiyi is a digital media strategist, Music curator, and Influencer with over eight years of experience, who does not just create content but also promote.
He started in 2012 and has worked with many brands and personalities in Nigeria.
As a publicist, he is also currently working with Nigeria A-list musicians such as Fireboy, Sean Tizzle, VectorThaViper, among others.
It is a well-known fact that some of the world’s famous content creators have attained a rockstar’s status. Asides making public appearances, as a content creator, a content creator can also make money through the sales of merchandise during a public speaking tour.
He said, “If you don’t have what it takes to pull gigantic crowds on a world tour, you can also make money through social speaking engagements. It is an everyday phenomenon to see bloggers, vloggers, podcasters, and social media personalities speak alongside industry experts at key events and business functions. If you have a 9-5 job, you can also create content to gain financial freedom, supplement your income, or attain the financial freedom needed to stand and work on your own. As a content creator, you do not have to feel awful and unappreciated if you’re not pulling in the millions of dollars other content creators earn.
“Instead, you should be hopeful that with the right doors opening, your quality content and some intensified effort, you’ll also join the league of high profile content creators making a killing with their contents.
“As a content creator, before you think about monetizing your content, you should, first of all, think about the kind of content that you create. Do you have a passion for it? If you don’t, it’s not a crime; you can always learn from industry experts to get better at what you do.
“On the other hand, if you do have a passion for it, congratulations to you. The next step is to choose one of the ways to monetize your content and work on it.
