Code Of Silence Set To Screen In Cinemas

Royal Arts Academy, in conjunction with Nollywood Workshop, is set to release a new movie Code of Silence. It’s a gritty tale of a young girl Adanma who was gang-raped by two men on one night while coming home from school. This singular act is the catalyst that triggers a number of catastrophic events. One of the rapists is a prominent politician and the other his aide. As a result, Adanma’s family, being of humble origins, are afraid to report the matter to the relevant authorities, as rape is considered a taboo in society and that it wiould make her undesirable for marriage. The film explores important themes of gender violence, as well as family planning and other health messages.

The movie stars an array of talented actors such as Ini Edo, Patience Ozorkwor, Desmond Elliot. Omoni Oboli, Kofi Adjorlolo, Amaechi Muonagor, Shawn Faqua and Makida Moka. Code of Silence is produced and directed by Emem Isong, with Chris Eneali Assistant Director. Story and original screenplay is by Bola Aduwo, who is also Associate Producer on the project while additional screenplay is provided by Kehinde Joseph.

Code of Silence is a gripping, heart-rending emotional story inspired by true-life events that needs to be told for the enlightenment of society. According to the producers, the rape statistics in Africa are staggering and it is their hope that the film would take viewers on a thought-provoking journey that would entertain and keep them glued till the end. The movie will screen in all cinemas nationwide from August 7, 2015.
