Ebbi In spontaneous combustion

The Lagos art season has begun with an exciting and engaging show titled, Spontaneous Combustion. The week-long show by Bryan Ebbi, a graphic artist known for creating memories with visual arts, is holding at the Art Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The show, which opened on January 4, 2025, ends January 10, 2025.

Ebbi says, “Spontaneous Combustion is an exhibition that delves into the spark of human imagination, showcasing art inspired by the fleeting moments, beliefs, and emotions that ignite human creative potential. Through each piece, viewers are invited to experience how small, often unnoticed impulses can catalyse profound journeys of expression and thought.”

The exhibition delves into the subtle yet potent sparks of human activity, beliefs, and emotions, combines vivid colours, dynamic forms, and layered textures, symbolising the intensity and unpredictability of inspiration.

“The show fuels and expands the boundaries of imagination. Each piece captures the transformative moments when simple experiences ignite a cascade of creative thought, propelling the mind beyond its usual confines,” he explains. “By emphasising these moments of spontaneous inspiration, the exhibition explores how the smallest of impulses can set off a chain reaction, leading to new perspectives, ideas, and artistic expressions. It is an invitation to witness how imagination evolves from fleeting sparks into a powerful force that shapes human experience and understanding.”

Some of the themes explored in the exhibition include, The Spark of Creation, Beliefs and Identity As Forces Of Impact, Emotion As Catalyst For Transformation, Imagination Without Limits and others.

Stardust Odyssey beckons viewers to embark on their own voyage, where the journey holds as much meaning as the infinite destination awaiting beyond. It is a journey through the cosmic unknown.

Stardust Odyssey embodies the spirit of exploration and self-reflection. The open road extends endlessly beneath a celestial sky, seamlessly blending the familiar terrain of Earth with the boundless mysteries of the universe.

The timeless emblem of freedom and adventure becomes a vessel for dreams, charting a course toward the luminous planet suspended like a beacon of possibility. Rich hues of purple and blue evoke the ethereal beauty of the cosmos, while the hand written textures serve as whispers of human thought, weaving narratives of longing, wonder, and discovery.

Another work, Supreme Intellect, looks at how to be supreme. It dwells on how to rise above the ordinary, to see the supernatural where others see the mundane. True intellect isn’t content with inefficiency or trapped in redundant thinking -it dares to dream, to break barriers, and to redefine what’s possible. This piece reflects the human condition – the constant struggle to transcend limits, seek meaning, and reach for the extraordinary.

A budding artpreneur, he has carved a niche with his brand, Canvas by Bryan. Canvas by Bryan immortalises memories with portraits. He developed a passion for art early on, inspired by his parents and the environment of consistent creativity he found himself in.
