Electronic media content awards to hold September

The Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) is set to host the fourth edition of Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibitions and Awards (NEMCEA). A media briefing to herald the event held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on August 19, 2025.

Themed, Sustainable Content Creation in a Fragmented Media Space, the event slated to hold on September 16 and 17, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, will rally key actors in the sector to foster media-related discourse and plan a path for the future of the media industry.

The briefing, which attracted both sponsors and members of the association, had in attendce President of EMCOAN, Mr. Adeniji Omirin; a member of the Board of Trustee and former president, EMCOAN, Mrs. Jibe Ologeh; General Secretary, EMCOAN, Mr. Alayande Stephen; Director LAPO Microfinance Bank, Mr. Oluremi Akande; DG, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), represented by the Assistant Director of Marketing, Mr. Monday Ocheli; the Marketing Communication and PR Manager, Radisson Blu Hotel, Mrs. Esther Uche Ukandu and Chairperson of the Jury, NEMCEA, Mrs Patience Imobhio.

Omirin, during his speech, described NEMCEA as more than just an event but an opportunity for partnership, and a celebration of excellence in media content.

“From inception, NEMCEA was designed as more than just an event. It is a marketplace, a platform for collaboration, a hub for innovation, and a celebration of excellence in media content. It brings together stakeholders across television, film, radio, advertising, digital platforms, and media buying to connect, to share knowledge, to trade ideas, and to chart a way forward for the future of our industry,” he said.

He also stated that there will be an inaugural Artificial Intelligence (AI) masterclass. The goal of this class will be to take advantage of AI to improve content creation.”

He said: “But what makes NEMCEA 2025 even more extraordinary is the new addition to our programme, the AI in production masterclass, which will hold on September 16 and 17, 2025. In partnership with Ingro Systems, this masterclass will introduce participants with the possibilities of co-creating with machines, harnessing artificial intelligence in video editing, scriptwriting, graphics, cinematography, content curation, audience engagement, and workflow optimsation.”

The president said: “By equipping our professionals, students, and emerging creators with these skills, we position Nigeria not just as a consumer of global media technology, but as a producer of content and innovation that can stand on any stage in the world.”

Alayande said there would be a Director-General’s Roundtable. He noted that it is one of the key events of NEMCEA 2025. He described the roundtable as a “first-of-its-kind gathering that would bring together heads of regulatory bodies and key industry players to discuss policies and initiatives that will foster growth and innovation within the electronic media ecosystem. The exclusive session aims to bridge the gap between content creators, advertisers, broadcasters, exhibitors, content owners and regulators, paving the way for a more streamlined and profitable industry.”

He also stated there would be a segment to empower industry stakeholders and give them opportunity to obtain knowledge and keep up with global practices.

Director of Marketing Communications, LAPO MFB, Akande, expressed LAPO’s belief in made in Nigeria. “And we also believe in the Nigerian narratives. Today, we have seen what content has been able to do for us in terms of promoting the Nigerian narrative across the globe,” he said. He further stated that it was a delight to be part of the event, and he pledged that LAPO would continue to be part of it.
