THIS year’s Valentine’s Day has come and gone, and different people caught their fun in different ways. For the Idams, it was not only fun, as their bank account rose by N1m at Valentine Special edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. It was one of the many ways MTN, sponsors and ULTIMA, producers of the programme, rewards its costumers at intervals.

This year, Mr. Nnannia Chukwuemeka Kelvin Idam, an Engineer, and his wife, Mrs. Nneka Olufunmilayo Idam, a Human Resources Manager, who played for the first time to get on the programme, were lucky to be invited to compete for N10m.

Shortly after their enviable win, Idam said, “Honestly, this is our first time. We haven’t played before.  I got a text telling me about Valentine Special, and to dial a number if I wanted to participate, which I did. There was a follow up question and then a qualifying question, which I got right and then I got called up here. This, to a large extent, is a clear indication that there is no scam in WWTBAM. I also was not expecting to be called because I knew a lot of people would be showing interest and, well, we got on the Hot Seat and it was a really nice experience”.

On how much they were hoping to win and what they would spend it on, Idam said, “Before we came, we were hoping to win N10m, but we won N1m and we plan to discuss what we are going to use it for”.

Recounting experience on the Hot Seat, Idam’s wife, Nneka, said, “WWTBAM is a show I have been watching as a little child. So, it was a good feeling being part of it. The show’s presenters all over the world do follow a particular format with just some slight changes in their approach. So, it was cool”. Her husband added, “For me, I was just trying to keep a level head as the questions were tossed at us. But it was ok at the end. We are grateful”.
