Interrogating devotion, leadership in Okolobo’s No 23, Take My Boss; Give Me Nehemiah

Happy by Musa Ganiyy 2026 hosted by O'DA Art Gallery on VI, Lagos, in April 2026.

Precious Okolobo literary production is encouraging. On April 19, he will be presenting two books on godly devotion and leadership in Lagos.

They are his latest addition to Christian literature in Nigeria. All his books are gospel inspired. He doesn’t, however, go the route of John Bunyan in his The Pilgrims Progress.

The books, Take My Boss; Give me Nehemiah and No 23 discuss effective leadership in spiritual and secular settings and Psalm 23, arguably the most popular psalm in the Bible.

Okolobo, who has already published four books, among them Fear Not, a faith-based testimony of cancer survival. “These works are an external expression of an internal impression on the urgent needs of society today,” Okolobo said. “The lessons from Nehemiah’s achievements point us in the right direction towards good leadership, while there is something for everyone in the expose on Psalm 23 —- for the first-time reader to the seeker of the deep truths in David’s mind when he wrote what has turned out to be the sweetest psalm.”

Former General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Nigeria, Rev Chidi Okoroafor (PhD), who wrote the foreword to the book on Psalm 23, and will also be the guest minister at the public presentation, said, “Okolobo delves into an x-ray of King David.”

He continued, themes employed by the author spice up this book. “This book is inspirational, academic, it goes for praxis in the field of theology. I recommend and endorse this book as a preacher’s handbook.”

The 184-page book with bold print published by Joevine Editors work has been arranged to enable the reader to grasp the underlying meaning of the psalm, which sits well with the word of God.

The 23rd psalm is appealing in its simplicity, yet profound in the way it speaks about creator and creative. The work encourages the reader to look at the sheperd, in fact, the author brings the truth of of psalm 23 to life in sharp.

Take My Boss; Give me Nehemiah takes a look at good and godly leadership. It takes the reader through the lens of of the life and times of Nehemiah. It outlines godly and secular principles and examples that people can relate with or emulate on leadership.

Foreword to the book on leadership was written by the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Nigeria, Rev Abel Amadi (PhD). He says: “The world, (and especially our country Nigeria), is in need of leadership – leadership that is rooted in righteousness, free of corruption, and transformational enough not just to actualise vision but to give hope of greatness to the country as a whole and to every single individual that lives in it.”

President of the Association of Nigerian Christian Authors and Publishers Wole Adedoyin welcomed the books as “significant contributions to the pursuit of devotion and service to God.”
