His sound stands out in an industry where originality can often be hard to find, and LYD’s determination to carve out his niche has set him on a unique path.

Born into a Christian family, LYD’s musical journey began at a young age.

As a teenager, he sang tenor in his church’s youth choir, but it was during high school that his passion for rap truly emerged.

LYD would often perform impromptu raps for his classmates during breaks, laying the foundation for his career.

In 2015, LYD took his first professional steps by recording a demo and performing at local shows and events.

While studying at Abia State Polytechnic in Aba, his talent quickly gained recognition. In both 2016 and 2017, he was named Best Rapper at his school. His crowning achievement came in 2016 when he won a highly competitive and controversial rap competition held at Benidon Hotels, a renowned event venue in Aba.

LYD also made it to the finals of popular local talent shows such as “Wetin U Get?” and “The Youth The Future (TYTF).”

Since his breakthrough, LYD has remained a consistent force, releasing singles, mixtapes, and EPs. His latest project, King Edward Street Motivation, dropped in August 2024 and includes standout tracks like “Owuterem Boy,” “Holy Water,” “E don be,” “Remedy,” “Baby Mama,” and “IPhone 12.”

Notably, “Owuterem Boy” was featured among the Top 13 drill hip-hop songs released in early 2024 by Rap Kulture Pro Magazine, further cementing LYD’s growing influence in the Nigerian music scene. With a strong sense of identity and a talent for storytelling, LYD is proving to be a force to watch in the future of Hip-Hop.
