Music star, Konga urges government to support entertainers

KongaNigerian Afrobeat artiste, Lawal Olalekan Olumo otherwise known as Konga has called on the government both at the federal and state level of the need to support the creative industry just the way importance is given to the sporting industry.

In his world he said’ Nigeria is blessed with lots of creative minds and as such it baffles me that creatives are underrated in Nigeria as the industry equally deserves the same hype and attention given to the sporting activities most especially football.

The industry has in its own little way help in the reduction of tensions via quality production they do be it music or movie but yet the industry players are not been compensated by their own government.

As part of supporting the industry also, the government needs to activate the copyright infringement law which have eaten deep into the industry. While we have read in papers and several online platforms when a culprit is apprehended; the aftermath result is most time not known.

Speaking further Konga stated that through the creatives, the Nigeria musicians and filmmakers have been able to break even into the global market and as such giving our own the opportunity to share stage with some of the biggest names.

It is pertinent to note that KONGA’s ghetto story changed when he scored the viral hit song “Baby Konga” in 2003 and ever since the super star have to relented afterwards.
