CANON ambassador and award-winning photographer, Emmanuel Oyeleke, is set to empower African creatives, foster cultural integration and exchange as well as boost arts and tourism between Nigeria and Kenya with the ‘Revealed’ Photography Workshop.
Oyeleke, who is managed by The Grid Management, said this year’s photography workshop will hold in Mombasa, Kenya, from October 5 to 11, with professional photographers from across Africa and Europe, coming to enhance skills of creatives, uplift aspiring photographers and showcasing the African artistic brilliance.
Speaking at a media briefing, Oyeleke, who is the founder of Zen Studios and the Convener of the workshop, said ‘Revealed’ aims to empower photographers by offering hands-on experience, personalised guidance and valuable insights into the art of photography.
Oyeleke said following the success of the inaugural edition in Accra, Ghana, in 2019, the plan is to tour Africa, empower photographers, encourage a harmonious work-rest balance among creatives and foster cultural integration.
He said the amalgamation of art and tourism has the potential to foster a heightened admiration for the exquisite beauty found within Africa’s varied landscapes.
He said Revealed is also designed to help photographers unwind, promote a sense of Zen, capable of unlocking unknown layers of creativity whether as a budding talent or a seasoned professional.
Oyeleke said; ‘Revealed’ is not just a workshop, but an extraordinary journey of self-discovery for photographers, guided by a carefully selected faculty comprised of African photography luminary, Kelechi Amadi Obi, UK-based fine art photographer, Ade Asiko Okelarin and award-winning wedding photographer, Emeka Bedge Amafor.
According to him, participants will be drawn from Ghana, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenyaw, Nigeria, United Kingdom, Zimbabwe and Morocco among other countries.
On the choice of Mombasa for this year’s workshop, Oyeleke said the city presents photographers with many vivid landscapes and scenes, noting that the harmony between its vibrant urban life and tranquil coastal allure, offers a unique opportunity for photographers to encapsulate the essence of coastal urbanity and nature’s serene beauty.
Also speaking, the Brand and Communications Manager, The Grid Management (TGM), Dapo Akintoye, said ‘Revealed’ plays a vital role in unlocking Africa’s tourism potential and positioning it as a top destination for travellers seeking unique and enriching experiences by promoting African destinations as vibrant creative hubs.
Akintoye said by aligning with local tourism authorities, Revealed can gain access to valuable resources, marketing support and connections to local artists, creatives and cultural events that will in turn enhance participants experiences and support sustainable tourism initiatives.
