Theatremania Africa celebrates ITD with Webinar on March 27

As part of the build-up event towards the forthcoming TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF), which holds in October (14 to 17) 2025 in Lagos, the International Central Working Committee (ICWC) of the TAF has announced plans to specially celebrate International Theatre Day (ITD) come March 27, 2025 with a webinar to bring focus to the importance of theatre as an art form on a global stage.

The theme for this year’s theatre day webinar is: Theatre: A Culture of Peace in Search of Development and it is scheduled to hold on Thursday, March 27, 2025 between 2.00pm – 4.00pm via Zoom. The lead discussants are, AJ Dagga Tolar (award winning author/poet), Rotimi Adelegan (Nollywood actor), Lydia Gifty Hagan (arts/media consultant from Ghana), Uwagbai Paul (veteran theatre director), among others.

The TAF CEO/Co-Founder, Alayande Stephen T., said, “as you all know that the ultimate goal of International Theatre Day (ITD) is to promote and create more awareness of the art form across the world and to drive more traffic of lovers of the theatre and arts to go watch more stage productions. Hence, our initiative to symbolically mark the day with a webinar that will further bring perspective and clarity to the continuous ongoing discussion as regards Theatre and a culture of peace in search of development. So, we are calling on all lovers of Theatre/Creatives and the arts in general to join this webinar as scheduled.”

Also, as part of the day’s celebration, TheatreMania Africa team is encouraging all TAF ambassadors/partners and all other thespians/creatives and lovers of the arts across Africa to do a 45 secs/1 min video to identify, celebrate and speak to the theme – Theatre: A Culture of Peace in Search of Development to celebrate ITD even before March 27. “You can tag us on all our social media platforms @ theatremaniaafrica on Instagram/Facebook/Youtube/X,” he concluded.
