One man who is in the spotlight of philanthropy this year is DafriGroup founder and chairman, Xolane ‘Ziggy’ Ndhlovu.

Having helped Africa’s needy from South Africa to Namibia to Nigeria and to the Philipines, it is not surprising that he is the philanthropist trending the most online.

The touching stories of how he has been helping Nigerians, and other less privileges scattered on all parts of the world have dominated the internet.

Some other beneficiaries of his benevolence include Sapele, Delta-based, nine-year-old Success Adegor, who was kicked out of school because of her mother’s inability to pay her fee.

To many who have been following his footprints, Xolane Ndhlovu has a long history of philanthropy. For instance, his company, The DafriGroup PLC, through its subsidiary, DafriBank Limited, launched the Nigerian edition of Fund Kids Like Success, which is “a N10 million per year educational support grant to assist struggling and out of school students to get back to school.”

Similarly, Ndhlovu, through the UMEH Foundation, had support Nigerian families whose livelihoods were affected by Covid-19. The foundation had given out 16-ton truckload of food supplies, consisting of 250 bags of rice, 800 cartons of tomato and 600 bottles of cooking oil in addition to N3,000 each to 500 families in the South East.

Ndhlovu, son of a Nigerian father and South African mother, has no bias in his benevolence.
While many people marvel at his philanthropy, Xolane Ndhlovu consistently explains that he is simply fulfiling a duty to humanity. “I have a passion to help Africa break the yoke of poverty and anywhere I see where my assistance can make a difference, I will not hesitate to lend a helping hand,” he said.
