Peter Obi quits PDP days before presidential primaries
Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Obi dumped the PDP days before the presidential primary elections of the party.
He was one of the leading presidential aspirants of the PDP alongside former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former Senate president Bukola Saraki, Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike and Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal.
Director General, Peter Obi Campaign Organisation Doyin Okupe insisted that former Anambra State governor will be on the ballot for the 2023 presidential election.
The former governor under was a running mate to fellow presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 general elections.
Reports said Obi has submitted his resignation letter to the chairman of his Ward in Anambra to notify him of his decision to quit the party.
He has also written to the National chairman of the PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, over his decision to quit the PDP.
