Muhammadu Sanusi II has arrived in Kano in full preparation for his reinstatement as the 16th emir of Kano Emirate.
Sanusi, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) arrived at the ancient city Thursday night few hours after the announcement of his reinstatement to the throne.

The return of Sanusi to his ancestral seat came four years since he was deposed by former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Meanwhile, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will present a new staff of office and a letter of appointment to Sanusi as 16th Emir of Kano this morning, a reliable source at the Government House told The Guardian.
Yusuf who formally assented to the new Kano Emirate Council (Repeal) 2024 Law that sacked Aminu Ado Bayero and four other first class chiefs formerly announced the reinstatement of Sanusi.
The amendment of Kano Emirate Council Laws on Wednesday scaled through the first reading on the floor of the Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
Speaker Ismail Jibril Falgore on Tuesday unanimously adopted the motion raised by Majority Leader, Lawan Husaini Yan Gurasa to amend the emirate law.
The move, a reliable source revealed, was intended to repeal the division of the Kano emirate into five independent units orchestrated by Ganduje during his reign as governor.
At the resumption of plenary on Wednesday, amid heavy security deployment within and outside the Assembly premises, the clerk of the house Bashir Idris Diso presented the adopted amendment law for first reading.
The emirate law 2019 gave impetus for the establishment of new Emirates with first-class chiefs including Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye with designated areas of local government allocated to each of the emirate.
The law also established state council of chiefs, comprises the five first class chiefs, secretary to the state government, commissioner for local government affairs, local government chairmen and few other members.
Other composition of the law which was later amended in 2020 and further amendment in 2023 affirming the descendants of the emirs are the only eligible persons to be appointed as emirs.
