ASHAKA Cement Company Plc, a subsidiary of Lafarge Holcim, in Funakaye local government of Gombe State has discovered additional coal and limestone that will sustain the company for the next 50 to 100 years.

The Chairman of the company, Malam Suleiman Yahaya told the newsmen in Gombe on Saturday that, the coal will last for 60 years and the limestone 50 years.

Yahaya said apart from the coal and limestone there is other raw materials that were discovered.

He said the management of the company has approved the construction of road to Maiganga their coal mine.

According to him, the road will be the first concrete road in the entire North East sub region of Nigeria by the company.He said, they will establish independent power plant using the coal in Maiganga and the coal in the new quarry just discovered near their plant.

“We will start generating power within the next 24 months Provide power to Ashaka and excess power to the grid, so that the people of Gombe will have independent power supply in the future,” he said.
