Aviation expert seeks measures to reduce air mishaps

THE president of Gecen Corporation, Mr. John Nwosu, has disclosed that arrangement had been concluded for a brainstorming session on strategies aimed at total reduction of air disasters, and terrorism at the airports in Nigeria and Africa.

 He emphasized the session has become imperative in developing nations considering the spate of air crashes in Asian continent. ‘The time to look at latest preventive strategies is now’, he said.

 Nwosu said the engagement which will merge into aviation equipment exhibition has been designed to expose aviation operators and participants to the latest management and security strategies as well as launching them  into the new world order in the industry.

According to him, this is aimed at reducing drastically incidences of air disaster, banditry and terrorist attack especially in emerging nations.

 “The importance of management and security in the industry cannot be over emphasized in view of the frequency of recent air mishaps in developed countries of Asia, banditry and terrorism which have claimed hundreds of lives and destroyed properties worth millions of dollars in many nations”, he said.

   He added that the programme would be the first of its type in the aviation industry, stating that subsequent editions of the event would be held annually in other countries,stressing that it should be noted that in 2013 a similar event airport show in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate (UAE) featured airports and focused exhibition only.

His words:”Over 6,581  Aviation professionals  were sourced and brought together, their products created over $20 billion worth of regional business  networking opportunities. “We hope it would attract over 30,000 to 40,000 aviation professionals and stakeholders across the globe . We believe that this will be a big turnaround in the aviation industry and the economy of the great country as well as making Nigeria the hub of aviation in Africa.

 “Aviation operators will be drawn from various countries. The programme will reshape the global aviation experience and will boost the image of the aviation industry and the economy in the country which the ministry of aviation has already repositioned in line with President Goodluck Jonathan on-going transformation agenda.”
