Cosmetic dealer, Obah emerges winner at Next Titan Season 5 show
Founder of Bodylikemilk Skincare & Cosmetics, Ogechukwu Obah, has emerged winner at this year’s reality TV show, called The Next Titan.The programme, which is in its fifth series is organised by Bravopoint Limited offers opportunities to Small Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) in Nigeria with innovative business ideas.
Obah carted away the sum of N5 million and a brand new Ford Focus car.Heritage Bank donated the cash prize while Coscharis Motors sponsored the car to further support the entrepreneur’s business.
Speaking to The Guardian at the grand finale held recently in Lagos, the Programme Director, Next Titan Season 5, Ronald Ajiboye, said that the major driving force for the programme was to provide a special avenue for entrepreneurial development.
According to him, the programme eliminates some major challenges faced by SMEs in the country, and give opportunities to young talents to compete against one another in real-life entrepreneurial challenge in a bid to win N5 million cash prize and a brand new car to start or support their existing business.
His words: “The programme was massive, as it was the biggest grand finale that we have ever recorded and the good thing about it is that our programme every year keeps developing and that’s quite intriguing and we really appreciate that.
“For us at Next Titan, we understand what it takes to be an entrepreneur in Nigeria and we want to sensitize and motivate people not to loose hope. This is because even if you don’t win the prize money, the fact that you passed through the academy where you meet and network with other SMEs and professionals is a great thing.”
The winner, Obah, a nurse turned entrepreneur, who outshined over 10,000 young entrepreneurs at the academy, expressed her excitement and thanked the sponsors for the opportunity given to her to expand her business. She said: “Everyone that entered the Next Titan house was talented and unique, but I feel I had that edge over others with my experience and also my knowledge of how to create my own product.”
Speaking further on the sustainability of the programme, Ajiboye said, “We have a way of measuring our sustainability and that is why our audition stages are quite strategic. We also don’t leave the winners alone; we follow them up and monitor them.
“We have a whole lot of stages of trainings and capacity building and we link the participants up with networking sessions which also makes great impact to the extent that, even if they don’t walk away with the cash, they walk away with the experience.
“Also, the feedback that we get from people who have passed through the academy is a major motivational factor for us and our sponsors, as our sponsors are also in line with our vision of improving entrepreneurial development in Nigeria and that also motivates us.”
