Bisi Adegbuyi, postmaster general of the Federation’s efforts towards digitizing the operation of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has increased the productivity level, according to Andrew Ebiloma, general manager of the Courier Regulatory Department (CRD)

Ebiloma, in a chat with the media in Lagos, said that results have earned Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi the “Digital Postmaster General” nickname among the staff who now rely on digital tools and other automation to discharge their duties.

Ebiloma who was recently appointed the GM, CRD said the PMG has made it open to the staff that things must work and that NIPOST should diversify.

“The PMG’s vision is to move NIPOST forward which is “Posting the Post to Posterity”. In that wise you see a rebirth of NIPOST; we now have zones, districts and ventures. It is no longer business as usual. Today, NIPOST views digitization as a business enabler.

“In My department almost everybody has their laptop. If you don’t have a laptop, there is a tablet. The vision is that NIPOST will be properly reposition to be pride even at the international because we are members of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) which at the moment the Postmaster General was given an Award of Excellence for his agenda to get NIPOST to the level it should be. So, it is gladdening that NIPOST is gradually embracing automation”.

The GM, however, noted that passage of the Postal Reform Bill will open up the system to more innovations and incentives to drive growth in the economy.

“NIPOST needs the backing of the Postal Reform Bills to perform better. It is the Bill that will give NIPOST an elevation; a pride of place to be able to properly regulate the postal industry to regulate. The enabling environment is not there at the moment. The Postmaster General has been fighting for it.
