Bauchi gov warns new commissioners against diverting public funds
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has warned his eight newly inaugurated commissioners to resist every temptation to divert public funds for personal use.
Mohammed issued this warning immediately after swearing in the new appointees, urging them to use government resources judiciously and see themselves as servants of the people, not “their masters.”
“Ours is a government that prioritises the socio-economic well-being of the people of the state. As commissioners, you should work hard towards the realisation of this noble objective. You should make judicious use of government resources at your disposal and resist the temptation to divert public funds for personal use.
“As commissioners and chief executives of your ministries, you should make accountability and transparency your guiding principles in the discharge of your duties,” he said.
The governor reminded the appointees that their assignments are a trust, a duty to God, and an obligation to their fellow human beings.
He stressed, “One day, you will account for your stewardship, if not in this world, surely in the hereafter. You should not, therefore, be tempted to abuse the trust bestowed on you. You are to serve the people and not to be their masters.”
The new commissioners and their postings are as follows Usman Usman Shehu (Ministry of Information and Communication); Dr. Iliyasu Aliyu Gital (Ministry of Agriculture); Dr. Bala Musa Lukshi (Ministry of Livestock Development); Hon. Isa Babayo Tilde (Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs); Prof. Titus Saul Ketkukah (Ministry of Works and Transport); Alh. Adamu Babayo Gabarin (Ministry of Youth and Sports); Abdullahi Mohammed (Ministry of Lands and Survey) and Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam (Ministry of Education).
