Falcon harps on natural gas utilization among stakeholders

NATURAL gas has dominated the energy landscape in Nigeria for many years now and will no doubt continue to play a pivotal role in the future growth and development of our national economy.

Natural gas is the fastest growing primary energy source in both the industrialized and non – industrialized world. It currently accounts for over 20 per cent of world energy consumption and is expected to increase its share relative to crude oil over the next 20 years.

Recognizing this fact, Falcon Corporation Limited embarked on sensitization of stakeholders on utilization of natural gas.

The Sensitization started at Onitsha and spread to Nnewi, Anambra State. In attendance were chief executives and key decision makers of potential industrial and power end-users of the gas, high level representation from the Anambra State Government, the Anambra State Investment Promotions & Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), the Bank of Industry and other strategic stakeholders along the gas and project implementation value chain.

The seminars elevated the information and understanding of the applications, economic and environmental benefits of Natural Gas as a fuel or feedstock, amongst owners and operators of industries and manufacturing concerns, as well as power companies within the state.

Speaking at the seminar, the Managing Director, Falcon Corporation Limited, Prof. Joe Ezigbo highlighted the current state of energy and power supply in Nigeria, uses and applications of Natural Gas in industries, requirements for conversion to Natural Gas firing; the economics of Natural gas utilization in industry, particularly with respect to the huge savings profile and overall operational cost reductions; technical and commercial dynamics of the Natural Gas sector; and other critical information vital for decision-making by the industries within Anambra State.

Head, Business Development & Commercial Services, Falcon Corporation Limited, Mrs. Emenike Chichi, said that Falcon Corporation’s initiatives is to enhance industrial and commercial development of industries in Anambra through innovative cost-effective solutions designed to ameliorate the present daunting power situation in the country.

The commercial Services officer, Oladeji Olaoti sighted some of the project benefits in the course of the seminar. He said that billions of Naira will be saved in liquid petrochemicals and industries in Anambra State can better channel to other areas of productive use. It will attracts more local and foreign industries and investors into Anambra State and the Eastern corridor as a whole, as Natural Gas becomes available for industrial use within the State.
