FG unveils welfare package for ministry staff over high rate of hypertension

No less than 70 percent staff of the Federal Ministry of Finance including the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Minister of State Finance, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Anastasia Daniel-Nwaobia, have high blood pressure cases.

The reason is not unconnected with the high performances required from them by the three arms of government as well as the general public

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Anastasia Daniel- Nwaobia made the disclosure on Tuesday in Abuja during the commissioning of the Federal Ministry of Finance Welfare Facilities [Crèche and Clinic] located in the premises of the Ministry.

Daniel-Nwaobia said the establishment of the Clinic especially, became a necessity when one of the ministry staff collapsed, rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

She said the incident made the Finance ministry to approach its health counterpart to send medical personnel to attend to the health needs of the ministry of Finance staff as every staff, including the two ministers and herself were diagnosed of having high blood pressure of various degrees for over 70 percent of the entire workforce.
